After collaborating with a manuscript assessor to refine the plot and overall storyline, the final draft of the manuscript has now moved on to the next stage: copy editing. This step involves refining the text to enhance readability and concision, ensuring the story flows smoothly and captivates readers.
In this stage, the copy editor will carefully proofread the manuscript to correct any grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors that may disrupt the reader’s experience. They will verify numerical details—such as dates and statistics—to guarantee accuracy, adding another layer of polish to the work.
Finally, layouts for publication will then be prepared, organising the text for a professional, reader-friendly publication. Each step brings the manuscript closer to release. It is very exciting, even though, right now, I am doing nothing.
